There is a hint of meaning behind every action that we perform and every interaction that we have. Hint of Meaning operates on the principle that it is your responsibility to see that meaning and use it to forge a better life for yourself. This blog isn't here to hold your hand because that's not what you need. And if that's what you think you need, you need to realize that even though there may be phases of life where hand holding is appropriate or even necessary, one only needs a crutch until they heal. Eventually as you continue to mature on your journey through life, you will gain the ability to walk then run on your own. But only your will, determination, and vision can get you to that point.
The focus is transforming lives.
The intention behind this blog is to help transform lives. As much as I know that can be accomplished, I also know that the messages here won't resonate with everyone. We all learn and think differently and because I can only write to what I have found to be true, what I believe, and about what works for me, I'll share the most impactful resources that speak into my life on my journey in hopes that their words will better resonate with you. Every day of my life I strive to become a better person than I was the day before, and ultimately I yearn for that vision to become a reality in the lives of as many readers as this blog can possibly reach. What "becoming a better person" practically looks like is getting in over your head through continual leaps of faith. This is the best way I've found to grow; it's rarely comfortable, but it's never those who seek instant gratification (like comfort) that find what life has to offer at its limits.
Don't focus on what you can get. Give.
So many people start from a place of what they can get out of life, but I have chosen to commit my life to adding value to others through whatever I do. I've learned it's not how much you can take, but how much you give rather that determines the merit and quality of the life you live. When you hold onto things and people tightly, you're trying to keep whatever it is that you can get your hands on. But when you live life with a loose grip letting things and people slide through your fingers, you will find that it is the people that want to be in your life that are left in the end, not the people that you think you want. The two are often completely at odds with one another because we don't really know what we want and what's best for us.
Listen to what speaks to you.
When you write something there is a certain level of arrogance about it to think that someone else needs to hear what you have to say. I used to think that if I start a blog I'm just throwing my two cents at the world hoping it sticks somewhere. But I've come to learn that's exactly what you're doing every time you open up your mouth. As arrogant as it is to say something, if you're saying something worth while people will listen. I can't be the one to judge if I have something worth listening to, but what I do know is that I feel this is something I was meant to do. Additionally writing makes sure these lessons stick in my own life - I'll probably get more out of writing this blog than anyone gets from reading it. Although this is true, it will never detract form the primary goal of the blog, that is to inspire people to transform their life.
Don't take my word for it.
When reading this blog or anything else don't ever blindly trust it, evaluate everything that you find including this statement. I've come to learn that the only people who have anything worth listening to are people who don't shove "facts" or "truths" down your throat, but rather earnestly want you to think for yourself. The moment I or anyone else ceases to live this out is the moment you should stop listening to them. Take what you find is useful and leave the rest.
I'm just a normal guy.
To be clear I'm not some ultra successful individual who has made distinguishing accomplished as of yet, I'm just a normal person who has lived a fairly normal life up unto this point. Something I do have however is the humility to listen to what those successful people are saying and the tenacity to strive to put my perception of their collective wisdom into practice. This is something that anyone can develop. I have no idea what the future will bring, but it might be helpful for someone in the world to hear from a person who is in the process of making their dreams a reality and to have the ability to read their thoughts and perspectives on that journey. We usually hear from people who already "have it all", which generally causes us to tell ourselves that they were somehow a special unicorn. You can't argue with the experience that got them there, but it is essential to strip their wisdom from their experience and see if it stands on its own. This is essentially the mission of my life; I've chosen to stand on the shoulders of the giants that came before me to reach even higher heights.
I do this because I care.
Some think that there are certain people that are total lost causes and no matter what they cannot recover. The only lost causes in life are those who give up on themselves. I can't force you to believe in yourself, I can only show you how I came to believe in myself and share the stories that broaden my belief of what I think is possible. Anyone can have the life that they've always wanted, but they can't get in their own way. I'm not saying this because it's something nice to say, I'm saying it because I've found it to be true. I believe that this information and insight should be free; I am not and never plan on making money from this blog. The most I'll ever get from it is the satisfaction of doing what I think is right. You don't need me or anyone else to tell you to do what you know is right. Go forth and not only do, but be something extraordinary.
